Leading Mothers Towards Civic Participation by Nudging Rights-Claiming Behaviors
AHA! Behavioral Design
Peer tools that helped nanay influencers spark rights-claiming conversations across their communities.

Target Segment: Filipino mothers who are members of human rights or community-based organizations.
Challenge: How might we get affiliated nanay influencers to engage both affiliated and unaffiliated nanay networks to connect felt need towards rights-claiming through conversations?
BD Solution: AHA! BD designed tools for nanay influencers to use with other nanays in formal and informal contexts, covering rights on education, poverty and livelihood, and VAWC and women empowerment. The tools support: connecting felt need to specific human rights values; sharing success stories around rights-claiming; and strengthening the ability to arrive at appropriate, actionable next steps.
Results: Significant increase in frequency of discussing women's and children's rights (doubled over three weeks); increased human rights knowledge and beliefs among nanay influencers; over 600 affiliated and unaffiliated nanays supported (through intention, planning, or acting) with rights-claiming over three weeks; high likelihood to use the tools again, with discussions felt to be safer, more engaging, and more concrete.
