Nudge to Vote 2.0: Helping Filipino Youth Vote Wisely in the 2022 National Elections
AHA! Behavioral Design
Tools that raised youth fact-checking and made discussing candidate preferences easier and more autonomous.

Target Segment: Filipino youth who are registered voters (Gen Z and Millennials).
Challenge: On research standards — How might we increase youth's sense of ease and trust as they research candidates? On discussing candidate preferences — How might we increase youth's autonomy in selecting a candidate while preserving their need for belonging? On ease of choice — How might we increase youth's ease of choice selection among candidates?
BD Solution: AHA! BD created physical and digital prototypes: ChatVOTE (a chatbot guiding youth through their own research standards, including fact-checking, identifying issues close to them, and reviewing controversies); KwenToVote (a campaign nudging youth to ask follow-up questions to family and friends with preferred candidates); Boto-Boto-Pick (an interactive card game for values-matching that forms a best-fit President/Vice President pairing); Pili-PINAS (a voter-advice quiz); Boto Bingo (a bingo game); and PAK! Check (a fake-news campaign).
Results: Among users of ChatVOTE, KwenToVote, and Boto-Boto-Pick: significant increase in fact-checking behavior and more willingness to engage in discourse with family and friends on voting preferences.
