Sun Pera-Aralan: Helping Public School Teachers to Secure Their Future Through Financial Management
AHA! Behavioral Design
A weekly-envelope budgeting tool that helped public school teachers stretch their salary — PhP 13M saved across four cities in four months.

Target Segment:
Filipino public school teachers in urban areas.
Challenge: How might we help public school teachers stretch their budget until the last week of the month?
BD Solution: AHA! BD designed the Peso Sobre, a budgeting folder that instructs teachers to divide their salary into weekly envelopes instead of traditional budgeting categories (e.g., rent, food, leisure).
Results: As of October 2022 — PhP 13M combined savings by the pilot cohort of four cities within four months of use; 68,653 teachers across 816 public schools reached; 67.10% using the Peso Sobre despite the pandemic; 82.37% increase in budget-stretching behavior. Faculty Club leaders played a big role in nudging teachers to sustain budgeting habits.
